Sections in Streamline help you organize your forms by adding headers, dividing content into multiple pages, or adjusting the layout of specific fields. They’re especially useful for longer forms or when you want to apply conditional logic to a group of fields.
What You Can Do with Sections
- Add explanatory text or headings to groups of fields
- Create new pages in multi-page forms
- Change the layout for specific fields without affecting the entire form
How to Create a Section
To add a section to your form, go to the form builder on your step and drag the Section field from the let hand-side onto the canvas. You can only place sections at the top or bottom of the form, or above/below existing sections.
Once placed, simply drag and drop other fields into the section. Use the Sort button to quickly rearrange fields as needed.
To edit the section header, click on the section in the top-right and you'll see three new options: edit, copy & delete. When the section is selected, you can see the general settings that you can update on the left hand-side.
Setting Up Conditional Logic on a Section
Just like individual fields, sections support Conditional Logic. This is great for long forms where certain sections may not apply to all users.
Note: Conditional Logic can only be used when a quantifiable field (like a select list, checkbox, radio, number, event, or date/time field) is present on the form. If you want to add logic to a quantifiable field, another quantifiable field must be present.
To apply logic:
Click the section header & expand the Logic section settings on the left.
Click + Add Rule on the section you'd like to apply logic to and define when the section should be shown or hidden.
Note: Any logic applied to a section will also apply to all fields within that section.
Copying a Section
To copy a section:
Click on the section in the form builder & click the Copy button.
The section will be automatically copied below the current section. This is a great way to quickly reuse groups of fields in other parts of your form.
Deleting a Section
To delete a section, select the trashcan icon.
When deleting a section, you'll see a confirmation page that deleting this section will erase its fields and settings, and disconnect related data mappings in other steps. Click the Delete button once you're okay with making these changes.
Be careful — it’s easy to accidentally delete fields when removing a section.
