The Description Area allows users to add rich, formatted text within a form step—without requiring user input. This is ideal for adding context, instructions, or event details directly into the form to guide respondents.
Common Use Cases:
Providing instructions on how to fill out the form
Describing the purpose of the form or associated event
Setup
When editing a Form step in Streamline, you can add a Description Area to insert custom text or images with various formatting options.
After selecting your new Description field, you can open the description editor on the left.
Note: you can also add an optional Name or Internal label that would only be visible to you.
The editor offers a large number of customization options. Please see our list below for formatting capabilities.
Formatting Capabilities:
Users can apply a wide range of rich text options, including:
Text Styling: Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, Subscript, Superscript
Font Options: Font family, size, and color
Paragraph Styles: Headings, normal text, code formatting
Alignment: Left, center, right, justify
Lists: Ordered and unordered
Indentation: Increase or decrease indent
Links: Insert links with an option to open in a new tab
Images: Upload images or insert via link
Tables: Insert tables (note: formatting may be inconsistent)
Other Tools: Horizontal line, select all, clear formatting
Code Editor: Full HTML and CSS editing available via the code view
⚠️ JavaScript or other scripting languages are not supported.
After you've finished with adding your customization options, you can preview how the description field looks on the builder or under the preview option.

Limitations:
No Data Mapping: Users cannot insert data mappings into the Description Area.
