If you need to remove a step from your workflow, you can delete it directly from the builder.
How to Delete a Step
Locate the step you want to remove in the workflow builder.
Click the ellipsis (⋮) icon on that step.
Select Delete from the menu.
What Happens When You Delete a Step
Deleting a step only removes that specific step.
Steps below it in the workflow remain in place and are not deleted automatically.
Any fields or configurations belonging to the deleted step will also be removed.
Important: If you delete a step that feeds into later steps (such as integrations or notifications), those steps will no longer be able to use the fields or configurations from that step. You may need to reconfigure or update downstream steps to prevent errors.
Example Scenario
Deleting a Form Step
If you delete a Form step that collected customer details, and those fields were mapped into a Document step or used in a Notification step, the mappings will break. After deletion, you’ll need to adjust those steps so they no longer reference the removed fields.
Deleting a Search Data Step
If you delete a Search Data step, any data mappings created from that search will also be erased. For example, if a Document step was configured to pull values from the Search Data step, those mappings will no longer work. After deletion, you’ll need to reconfigure downstream steps.
Best Practices
Before deleting a step, consider the following tips to avoid breaking your workflow:
Review dependencies first – Check if other steps reference fields or outputs from the step you plan to delete.
Update downstream steps – Reconfigure integrations, notifications, or documents that used the deleted step’s data.
Document your workflow – Keep a record of which fields and steps are connected, so you can quickly identify what needs to be updated.
Test after changes – Run your workflow after deletion to confirm everything continues to function as expected.
