Time fields allow you to collect time-specific information from respondents in a clean, structured format. Time fields are ideal for capturing details such as appointment times, meeting schedules, availability windows, or start/end times for events. This field is excellent for when there is a Time that doesn’t need to be associated with a date.
Adding a Time Field
- In the form editor, click Add Field.
- Under the Advanced category, select Time.
- The field will appear on your form, ready for configuration.
Customizing Field Properties
After adding the field, you can customize how the Time field appears directly within the form builder.
You can:
- Change the field title to match the purpose of your form (for example, “Appointment Time,” “Preferred Call Time,” or “Start Time”).
- Add helper text to provide additional guidance (for example, “Select your availability”).
To the right of the field title, you’ll see icons for quick adjustments:
- Toggle Required on or off
- Click the eye icon to hide or show the field
- Click the lock icon to make it read-only
- Click the duplicate icon to copy the field
- Click the trash can to delete it
Field Settings
In the field settings panel on the top right, you can configure how the Time field behaves and how respondents interact with it.
Data Mapping Label
Assign an internal label for data mapping or CSS targeting. This label is not visible to respondents.
Default Value
Choose a time to pre-fill the field automatically. This is useful for internal workflows, scheduling defaults, or when most users will select the same time.
Time Increments
Set the time intervals available to respondents.
Common options include:
- 5 minutes
- 10 minutes
- 15 minutes
- 30 minutes
Using increments helps standardize scheduling and prevents invalid or overly granular selections.
Time Format
Choose how time is displayed in the field.
For example:
- HH:MM AM/PM
- 24-hour format, depending on your configuration
Display View
Select how respondents choose a time:
- Time Picker – A visual clock or slider interface that allows users to select a time interactively
- Dropdown – Month, day, and year options appear in dropdown lists
The display option you choose can improve usability based on your audience and the level of precision you require.
Feature Considerations
Date, Time and Date/Time fields can only be mapped to date time type fields.
Tips for Using Time Fields
- Use descriptive field titles to clarify what time is being requested (e.g., “Arrival Time,” “Interview Time”).
- Adjust time increments to match the structure of your workflow—15- or 30-minute intervals work well for most scheduling needs.
- Use default values sparingly unless you intentionally want to guide respondents to a specific time.
- Choose Time Picker for quick, intuitive selection or Dropdown for more controlled and accessible input.
- Pair Time fields with Date fields when collecting full appointment or scheduling information.
