Note: This article applies to the new Form Step experience in Streamline.
The Date/Time field allows you to collect both date and time information in a single, structured input. This field combines the functionality of the Date and Time fields, making it ideal for workflows that require full scheduling details, such as appointments, event start times, deadlines, or booking windows.
Adding a Date/Time Field
- In the form editor, click Add Field.
- Under the Advanced category, select Date/Time.
- The field will appear on your form, ready for configuration.
Customizing Field Properties
Once added, you can adjust how the Date/Time field appears directly within the form builder.
You can:
- Rename the field title to describe its purpose (e.g., “Appointment Date & Time,” “Event Start,” or “Preferred Meeting Time”).
Field behavior icons to the right of the title allow you to:
- Toggle Required on or off
- Show or hide the field
- Make the field read-only
- Duplicate the field
- Delete the field
Field Settings
In the field settings panel on the top right, you can configure how the field behaves and how respondents select both date and time.
Data Mapping Label
Assign an internal label for data mapping, workflow logic, or CSS targeting. This label does not appear to respondents.
Default Value
Pre-fill the date and/or time automatically. This is useful for internal workflows, expected scheduling defaults, or reducing repetitive input.
Set Date Range
Define a minimum and maximum date that respondents are allowed to select.
This helps ensure:
- Realistic birthdates
- Valid appointment windows
- Appropriate scheduling boundaries
This will show up on the live form as a date range with dates outside the range greyed out:
Time Increments
Choose the interval for time selection—such as 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or other available increments.
This helps standardize scheduling and ensures cleaner data.
Date Format
Choose how the date is displayed to respondents (e.g., MM/DD/YY).
Time Format
Choose how time is displayed—such as HH:MM AM/PM or 24-hour format.
Display View
Select how respondents choose the date portion:
- Calendar – Pick a date from a popup calendar
- Dropdown – Choose month, day, and year from dropdown menus
(Once the date is selected, users will choose a time based on the increments and format you’ve set.)
Feature Considerations
Date, Time and Date/Time fields can only be mapped to date time type fields.
Tips for Using Date/Time Fields
- Use clear titles to define the exact scheduling information you need (e.g., “Session Start Time,” “Deadline,” or “Meeting Date & Time”).
- Set realistic date ranges to avoid invalid or unintended selections.
- Adjust time increments to match how your organization schedules appointments or events.
- Consider using Calendar view for faster date selection and Dropdown for situations requiring stricter input control.
- Combine Date/Time fields with related fields, such as Name, Email, or Location when collecting complete appointment or booking information.
